Where to Find Us
You will find us at 42 Shad Thames, London SE1 2YD. Shad Thames is the narrow cobbled street that runs behind Butlers Wharf, lined with converted Victorian warehouses and the iron gantries that once carried goods between them. Cross Tower Bridge from the north bank, take the steps down on the south side, and you are on our street within three to four minutes.
The nearest stations are Tower Hill (Circle and District lines) just across the river, London Bridge (Northern and Jubilee lines, plus National Rail) to the west, and Bermondsey (Jubilee line) to the south east via Jamaica Road. From Tower Hill, walk down to the bridge, cross to the south bank and take the steps down to Shad Thames. From London Bridge, either follow Tooley Street towards the bridge or take the riverside path east past HMS Belfast, under Tower Bridge and on to Butlers Wharf.
Most of our local clients come from Tower Bridge, Shad Thames, Bermondsey, London Bridge, Wapping, the City of London and the wider SE1 area. Distance is no barrier, though: we act for clients across the UK and overseas, and remote advice by phone or video is available for anyone who cannot easily reach Shad Thames. Immigration clients in particular often instruct us from abroad.

How We Can Help
Immigration law is a large part of our work. We advise on family immigration, including partner and dependant visas, on naturalisation applications for those ready to apply for British citizenship, and on employment immigration for sponsored workers and their employers. Requirements, fees and thresholds change regularly, so we always recommend checking the current figures on GOV.UK and taking advice before you apply.
We also act in family law matters, including divorce, financial remedies and child arrangements, and we handle civil litigation and employment disputes for individuals and small businesses. Alongside these, we assist with wills and probate and with residential conveyancing. Whatever the matter, we start by listening, explain your options in plain English and agree clear next steps. Nothing on this page is advice on your specific circumstances: for that, please speak to a solicitor.

Learn MoreWhy Choose RakLAW Solicitors?
RakLAW Solicitors is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA number 8007405. Regulation matters: it means we are bound by the SRA's professional standards, we carry professional indemnity insurance, and you have access to a formal complaints process, including the Legal Ombudsman, if something goes wrong.
The firm was founded by Rakesh Prajapati, a solicitor and member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, with more than ten years' post-qualification experience in immigration, family and civil litigation. You can read about our people on the team page before you get in touch, so you know who you would be dealing with.
We would rather show you evidence than adjectives. You can read independent client reviews of the firm on ReviewSolicitors and Trustpilot, written by people we have acted for and hosted on platforms we do not control. On costs, we aim to be clear from the first conversation: our fees page explains how we charge, and we confirm costs information in writing before you commit to anything.
Meet Rakesh Prajapati, our founder, and the wider team on our team page, or read what clients say on our reviews page.

Visiting Us: FAQs
Where exactly is your office?
We are at 42 Shad Thames, London SE1 2YD, on the cobbled street behind Butlers Wharf on the south bank of the Thames. From Tower Bridge itself it is a three to four minute walk: take the steps down on the south side of the bridge and you are on Shad Thames, with number 42 a short walk along the street.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Please book ahead. We are a small office and our solicitors are often in meetings or at hearings, so we cannot promise someone will be free if you drop in. Call 0203 345 2000 or use our contact page and we will find a time that suits you.
What happens at the first meeting?
Your first 15-minute consultation is free, whether in person or by phone or video. We listen to your situation, give an initial view of your options and explain what working with us would involve, including how costs work. There is no obligation to instruct us afterwards. It helps to bring or send any key documents in advance.
Which areas do you serve?
Most of our local clients come from Tower Bridge, Shad Thames, Bermondsey, London Bridge, Wapping, the City of London and the wider SE1 area. We also act for clients across the UK and overseas, particularly in immigration matters, so please do not let distance put you off.
Can you advise me without my coming to the office?
Yes. We advise by phone and video call, and documents can be shared securely by email. Many clients complete their whole matter remotely, from the first consultation onwards. Identity checks can usually be completed remotely too; we will explain what is needed when you get in touch.
Is there parking nearby, and what about public transport?
Parking on Shad Thames itself is very limited, so we recommend public transport where possible. Tower Hill (Circle and District), London Bridge (Northern, Jubilee and National Rail) and Bermondsey (Jubilee) are all within walking distance, and several bus routes stop on Tooley Street and Jamaica Road. If you do need to drive, there is paid parking in the surrounding area; please check availability before you travel.
