FAMILY LAW FEES

Family Law Fees

How we charge for Family Law work

Family Law matters at RakLAW — including divorce, financial remedies, child arrangements, domestic violence and cross-border family disputes — are charged on a time-spent basis at our standard hourly rates.

Our hourly rates depend on the experience and seniority of the person dealing with your matter, and typically range from £210 to £579 per hour + VAT (charged at 20%).

We will agree the appropriate fee structure with you at the outset and keep you informed of accumulated time and costs as your matter progresses. For straightforward matters we may be able to offer a fixed fee or staged fee on a case-by-case basis.

For the general hourly rate framework that applies across non-fixed-fee matters, see our Hourly Rates page. Legal fees are subject to VAT charged at 20%.

Disbursements (additional costs)

Disbursements are payments to third parties on your behalf, not included in our legal fees. Depending on the complexity of your matter these may include court fees, barrister's fees (where Counsel is instructed), expert reports, mediator's fees, and translation or interpreter fees.

We will keep you informed of all anticipated disbursements at each stage and obtain your authority before incurring costs on your behalf. If VAT is applicable to any disbursement, it is usually charged at 20%.

Persons Responsible for the Work

The work will be undertaken by members of our team under the supervision of Rakesh Prajapati, a senior solicitor with 10+ PQE, who retains overall responsibility for your matter.
