Tax Law
Michael has deep experience advising UHNW individuals, corporations, and local authorities in all areas of tax and tax dispute resolution, including direct tax, VAT, customs and excise duties, landfill tax, and misuse of HMRC powers. Michael works closely with clients at the earliest stage of HMRC interest and/or investigation to achieve resolution and the optimal approach to litigation where necessary. Michael has successfully and favourably resolved several Code of Practice 9 (COP9) cases involving UHNW international clients.
Public Law
Michael is instructed in a diverse range of public law matters, including tax, planning, enforcement, and immigration. He has experience as a lawyer working within local authority and appreciates the unique challenges that local authority legal teams face.
Employment Law
Michael provides representation to employers across all areas of employment law. He has deep experience of complex and multi-week trials in the fields of discrimination, whistleblowing, and unfair dismissal. Michael understands the time and lost revenue that employment litigation can cause employers and provides a streamlined and efficient service to achieve finality and closure.
