Disbursements (additional costs)
Disbursements are payments made to third parties on your behalf and are not included in our legal fees. The amount depends on the type of application and your individual circumstances.
Home Office application fees vary depending on the type of application. The official breakdown is published here.
Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS): currently £1,035 per adult per year of leave (£776 per year for students and children), payable as part of most visa applications. Fees subject to change.
Priority services (optional): Priority service (decision within approximately 5 working days) around £500. Super priority service (decision by next working day) around £1,000.
Other potential disbursements may include English language test fees (typically £150 – £400), tuberculosis test where required (£65 – £120 depending on country), document translation (£20 – £150 per document), professional or expert reports if required (£300 – £1,500 + VAT) and interpreter fees (approximately £20 – £70 per hour).
If VAT is applicable to any disbursement, it is usually charged at 20%. We keep you informed of all anticipated costs at each stage before they are incurred.
How long will my matter take?
We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process any application. Once submitted, processing times are determined by UK Visas and Immigration. Current processing times: applications inside the UK and applications outside the UK.
