About Humanitarian Protection
Humanitarian protection is granted to people who do not qualify as refugees under the Refugee Convention but who would face a real risk of serious harm if returned to their country, such as the death penalty, torture, or indiscriminate violence in armed conflict. It is a separate form of protection with its own legal test and conditions.
