PROBATE & ESTATE FEES
Probate & Estate Fees
Our Fees
We offer a range of pricing options depending on the complexity of the estate and the level of support required. In the most straightforward cases, we may be able to fix our fees. When we provide you with a quotation, we will make it clear whether the fee quoted is an estimate of our likely costs or a fee that is fixed.
| Service | Fixed fee |
|---|---|
| Fixed Fee — Grant-only service | £1,500 – £3,000 + VAT |
| Full Estate Administration (no Inheritance Tax payable) | £2,000 – £5,000 + VAT (avg £3,000 + VAT) |
| Full Estate Administration (Inheritance Tax payable) | £4,000 – £9,000 + VAT (avg £7,500 + VAT) |
Estate administration fees depend on the complexity of the estate. We will give you a tailored quote at the outset. Legal fees are subject to VAT charged at 20%.

Disbursements (additional costs)
Disbursements are costs payable to third parties (HM Land Registry, HMRC etc) and are outside of our control. Typical disbursements include:
- Probate application fee: £300 (no VAT) if the value of the estate is over £5,000
- Additional copies of the Grant: £16 per copy
- Bankruptcy searches: £6 per name/search
- HM Land Registry Search: £7 per document
- Statutory notices (if required): £200 – £300 plus VAT
Disbursements listed are correct at time of publishing but subject to change. Reference: Applying for probate: Fees - GOV.UK and HM Land Registry: Information Services fees - GOV.UK. The cost of selling or transferring a property is not included in the above prices.
How long will my matter take?
For a straightforward estate where no full inheritance tax account is required, we usually expect an average estate administration to take between 6 – 9 months. A relatively straightforward taxable estate will usually take between 10 – 14 months. More complex estates can take longer.
